Meet Peter

Peter currently serves on Roanoke City Council, where he’s delivering real results by making neighborhoods safer, expanding economic opportunity, and building a stronger future for the city we call home.

A Roanoke native, Peter has always believed in showing up and giving back. He grew up learning the value of service from his mom, a public school teacher, and his dad, a restaurateur. Those early lessons shaped his commitment to hard work, community, and treating people right.

That foundation carried Peter to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in swimming, to Brown University, and later to Georgetown University. No matter where life took him, his focus remained the same: helping people and strengthening communities.

Peter has experience as an EMT-First Responder, an urban planner, and an advocate for fair wages and LGBT+ rights. Today, he works as an Associate Broker at Lichtenstein-Rowan Realtors helping people make Roanoke their home. He brings real-world experience to the challenges families face every day.

On City Council, Peter has taken the lead on meaningful, measurable progress for Roanoke:

Housing
  • Modernized our zoning code to expand equitable housing opportunities
  • Created the $2 million Workforce Housing Loan Fund to support attainable housing
  • Introduced tools to reduce vacancy and blight, helping the city acquire and redevelop vacant homes
  • Advanced HB181 to enable an Accessible Dwelling Unit (ADU) program in Roanoke

Economic Growth

  • Invested $10 million in Melrose Plaza, bringing a full-service grocery store to a long-standing food desert
  • Secured $4 million for the RoVa Biotech Labs, supporting innovation and job creation in a growing industry
  • Created brownfield redevelopment areas in Riverdale and Norwich

Public Safety

  • Built a new Fire/EMS Training Center to better prepare first responders
  • Delivered a new E-911 Center to strengthen emergency response and coordination
  • Established the Roanoke Operations and Crime Control Center, improving real-time public safety operations across the city
  • Implemented community policing, which has reduced violent crime

Quality of Life

  • Delivered $13 million for the new Eureka Park Recreation Center
  • Supported the opening of the Washington Park Pool, Regional Skate Park, and the Wasena in-river park, expanding access to recreation across the city
  • Delivered the $50 million Main Street Bridge project to completion in Summer of 2026
  • Prioritized the city's bike infrastructure and Vision Zero program

Transparency

  • Strengthened leadership at City Hall by helping lead the transition to new city management
  • Launched a public data dashboard, giving residents real-time access to track city performance and progress
  • Protected 70-acres at Evans Spring in conservancy, preserving the site of Roanoke’s earliest settlement while guiding responsible future development

These investments are making a real difference today, and setting Roanoke up for long-term success.

Peter’s leadership has helped move Roanoke forward by being grounded in practical solutions, real results, and a clear vision for the future.

Along the way, he’s been honored with the National League of Cities Centennial Under 40 Impact Award, recognizing young leaders making a difference in their communities.

Peter believes local government should be practical, responsive, and focused on results. He’s committed to building a Roanoke that is safer, smarter, and stronger. A Roanoke where everyone has a fair shot to succeed.

Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just where Peter lives—it’s home.

And he’s ready to keep working for it.
